We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

  • With a growing portfolio of transmission and private network assets we are looking for SAPs (Senior Authorised Person) to provide safety from the system for operations, maintenance, construction and commissioning activities at voltages from 11kV to 400kV.
  • The applicant will preferably be holding current authorisation for wind farm/renewable generation at either 33kV, 132kV, 275kV, or 400kV.
  • Be willing to support both onshore and offshore activities and help grow an expanding Operations and Maintenance business within Athena PTS.

  • To undertake electrical installation works in accordance with design and relevant standards. Time served with relevant experience in industrial and commercial installations.
  • CompEx certified applicants preferable but not essential.

  • To undertake electrical maintenance works on industrial and power generation systems. Experience of LV distribution, lighting/emergency lighting systems, trace heating, earthing and lightning protection, VSDs and UPS systems would be advantageous. As would experience in hazardous area installations.

Summary

To be responsible for the delivery of Operation and Maintenance services for High Voltage Transmission assets.

Qualifications / Training

  • Senior Authorised Person and Control Person to 400kv
  • Honours degree in Electrical engineering (preferable)
  • Chartered engineer registered with the UK engineering council (preferable)
  • Offshore survival and vessel transfer (GWO suite)
  • NEBOSH

Job Outline

  • Manage the execution of all aspects of High Voltage Operations and Maintenance for High Voltage transmission networks
  • Act as technical expert and company nominated person for work scopes on High Voltage Transmission Systems
  • Act as technical author ensuring that Company procedures are up to date and in line with appropriate National Grid codes and practices
  • Ensure the company’s Senior Authorised Persons are suitably training and authorised for carrying out their high voltage duties
  • Act as assessing officer for the approvals of the companies and contract staff
  • Act as designated officer for the provision of technical guidance to others on high voltage transmission systems
  • Manage the reactive and planned work scopes on high voltage transmission systems
  • Create maintenance plans for the execution of maintenance work on high voltage transmission assets in line with best industry practice and OEM guidelines
  • Support the generation of tenders and formal offers for maintenance and operations scopes.
  • Act as control person for the execution of operations task where the tasks are complex
  • Produce or approve risk assessments and method statements (RAMSs) and other QHSE documentation.
  • Produce switching programs and plan/execute switching, isolations and earthing of High Voltage systems up to 400kV.
  • Issue permits to work & electrical safety documentation in accordance with company/customer safety rules and operational procedures.
  • React appropriately for breakdown and repair scopes, mobilising to site when required.
  • Complete non-intrusive and intrusive maintenance activities
  • Produce reports following completion of planned activities and defect notifications for repair scopes
  • Manage the execution of contract resource
  • Identify new suppliers including OEMs, engage and formalise relationship using framework agreements and call off contracts
  • Manage invoicing and payments following the completion of activities
  • Manage spares holdings and limited shelf life items

An Inverness based role reporting to the Board of Directors, the role-holder is to drive and lead the company’s growth and support the delivery of existing projects in Scotland – primarily in the Highlands and Islands, and the eastern and central areas.
